We’re pleased that you are interested in the Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health & Science Charter School (DRIHSCS) for your child. DRIHSCS is a sixth through twelfth grade school. The school was founded in 2010 and is committed to creating an environment where children are joyful, active learners who will become confident citizens achieving excellence in both academics and social development. We honor the individual character of each child, encourage learning through collaboration, and value intellectual discipline.

Each spring admission to 6th grade is by lottery.   Positions in 6th grade go to siblings and English Language Learners first and then in order of the blind drawing to be held 4:00 April 14, 2017.  The last day to apply for the lottery is 4:00 April 4.  Any grade 6 applicants not chosen was placed on a waiting list determined by time of application and considered for admission if additional spaces become available.   Families are also encouraged to apply for 7th grade to 10th grade as well.  Those applicants and will be placed on a waiting list determined by time of application and considered for admission as space allows.

The easiest way to apply is online at the NYC Common Online Charter School Application.

You can also download  and complete a  PDF version of the application  and return to Charles Brown at the school’s reception area on the first floor. A paper version of the application can also be picked up at the school’s reception area as well.
